A drone carried out Sakhalin region’s first operational, rather than test, delivery of medical cargo on 21 July, the regional government said.
Aurora BAS organised the flight. An Aist fixed-wing drone developed by Drone Solutions covered 32 kilometres from Korsakov District Hospital to the village of Ozerskoye.
The aircraft delivered medicines and returned to the district centre with tubes containing a patient’s blood samples. The Korsakov–Ozerskoye flight took 19 minutes, half the travel time by road.
For temperature-sensitive cargo, the Aist was fitted with a powered thermal box connected to its onboard electrical system. It maintains the required storage conditions in both low temperatures and hot weather.
The flight was tracked online through an identification platform based on the state-run ERA-GLONASS system. The first service carried real medical cargo rather than operating as an empty trial.
