Uzbekistan and US company Head Honchos will discuss preparing Uzbek citizens for seasonal agricultural work in the United States under the H-2A visa programme, the Dunyo news agency reported.
Company president Todd Miller is due to visit Uzbekistan in August. The trip is being arranged with the involvement of Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United States as part of efforts to expand legal employment channels.
The parties plan to discuss recruiting Uzbek citizens for seasonal jobs in the US agricultural sector and the possible signing of a cooperation memorandum.
The proposed document is expected to cover training workers to meet US employers’ requirements, vocational preparation for candidates and assistance in securing lawful seasonal employment through the H-2A programme.
The delegation intends to visit Tashkent and the Bukhara and Fergana regions. Company representatives will review agricultural enterprises, farms and other participants in the sector.
The embassy expects the cooperation to improve recruitment procedures and create additional opportunities for Uzbek citizens to take up safe and legal seasonal work in the United States.
