Russia plans to begin serial production of SJ-100 passenger aircraft in autumn 2026, replacing foreign components with domestically made alternatives.
Factories are completing preparations for the production lines that will build the new version. The size of the initial production batch has not been disclosed.
The SJ-100 is a substantially modernised version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100. The programme uses Russian-made avionics, landing gear and PD-8 engines in place of foreign systems fitted to the earlier model.
A fully import-substituted aircraft powered by PD-8 engines has completed its first test flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The available report does not say that the full test programme has been completed.
Demand from Russian airlines and regions is estimated at about 100 new aircraft. Part of that requirement is expected to be met by the SJ-100 and the remainder by the regional Il-114.
The delivery date for the first serial aircraft and the allocation of the stated requirement between the two models have not yet been specified.
