A tourist autogyro fell and struck two visitors on the ground at the Chaka Salt Lake Sky No. 1 scenic area in China’s Qinghai province at 12:08 p.m. on July 21, Xinhua reported citing the Ulan county government.
Both injured visitors were in stable condition and their lives were not at risk. No one aboard the aircraft was injured.
Authorities described it as a small tourist autogyro capable of carrying two or three people. It was flying below 100 metres when the incident occurred.
The aircraft was sealed at the scene after the fall. The tourist attraction temporarily suspended operations.
Culture and tourism officials, emergency responders and police attended the scene. Several agencies formed a special team to investigate the incident.
The official report did not identify the aircraft model or establish the cause of the fall. The investigation team will determine the cause.
