Khiva to host Melon Festival from 7 to 9 August

Russian singer MakSim will perform at the Arda Khiva complex on 8 August, with free admission.

Khiva will hold its traditional Melon Festival from 7 to 9 August at Itchan Kala and the Arda Khiva tourist complex.

The Tourism Committee and the Khorezm regional administration are organising the festival. Cities and districts across the region will present locally grown melon varieties at a fair, with pavilions decorated to reflect local traditions.

The cultural programme will include:

  • theatrical and puppet performances, national costume shows and appearances by folk ensembles;
  • exhibitions of national cuisine, Khorezm bread and handicrafts;
  • workshops and displays of decorative, applied and visual art.

The most active participants will receive prizes from the regional administration and event partners.
